Father’s day is celebrated throughout the world to recognize the importance and contribution of father’s in society. This day is celebrated throughout the world on different dates but in maximum countries it is celebrated on the 3rd Sunday in June.

The date of Father’s Day may vary from country to country. It is celebrated in Pakistan, UK, USA, Mexico, Canada, South Africa, India, Singapore, Ireland, France, Greece, Venezuela and Argentina on 3rd Sunday of June. The people of Brazil celebrate Father’s Day on the 2nd Sunday of August. But in Australia and New Zealand it is celebrated on the 1st Sunday of September every year. In Norway, Sweden, and Finland Father’s Day is celebrated on the 2nd Sunday in November

 And in some Catholic countries it is celebrated on 19th March. In Thailand it is celebrated on 5th December which is actually the birthday of the country’s king.

History of Father’s Day

Although in many societies from the ancient past, Father’s Day had been celebrated in different forms, they used to honor their fathers by celebrating this day, obeying them and many other things had been done for fathers, but the idea of a special day to honor fathers and celebrate fatherhood was introduced from the United States.

 There, a 27 years old woman called Sonora Smart Dodd was inspired by the American Mother’s Day celebrations to plan a day to honor fathers. Father’s Day had been celebrated in the USA since 1910. After that many other European countries followed the custom of USA and started to celebrate the Father’s Day.

Traditions of Father’s Day

Father’s Day can be celebrated by different ways, because this day is celebrated to honor fathers and do something which is extra ordinary for them so there are some ways by which we can celebrate it and make this day very special to our fathers Traditionally, most of the people around the world celebrate the father’s day by the following ways:

In the western countries people celebrate this day by creating a perfect relaxing day for their fathers. What Dad wants most is to have a day free from any pressure.

Dad would really appreciate no deadlines, no hassles, no chores, no having to fix anything, and no rushing about on this special day. cook some favorite dishes of your father.

2.Giving a Card :

We can buy or make a card for Father’s Day and can add or write best wishes, inspirational quotes or fine lines for our Father. It will please your father.

You also can wish your by giving a gift of his own choice, you must buy a gift, pack it beautifully and present to your father. It will please him very much. Most of the children around the world buy wrist watch, tea shirt, some sort of diary and pen, book or any sort of appealing gift for their fathers on this day.

4.Have an Adventure Together:

Pretend you’re tourists in your own city: go to a museum, watch a movie of the choice of your father in a cinema, take a walk in a forest, beach or park, or see whatever other sights your city has to offer. Present your dad with a few different options or a sample itinerary in the morning, and let him choose.

On this very day children spend quality time with their fathers. Its very difficult to take some extra time out of our busy routine, but we must get away from the house and spend time together with our fathers. We must go for a walk, have a picnic, share stories and dreams together. Now that’s a day Dad will really remember!

Significance of Father’s Day

No one can deny the importance and contributions of father’s in any society, so there must be a day to celebrate for him, in every civilized part of the world it is celebrated with great zeal and devotion by using different ways to honor the father’s. It is a best way to honor the contributions of fathers.

In the western and American countries there is a public holiday to celebrate Father’s Day. As far as Islam and Muslim countries are concerned every day must be a father’s day for them, because Islam stressed upon the taking care of parents. As Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) has said:

“When a child looks towards his parents out of love for them is an act of worship.”

 So Muslims should celebrate this day on daily basis by taking care of their parents and should also celebrate Father’s day with the whole world, lastly I also want to wish my father a HAPPY FATHER’S DAY.
