Here I am going to share some traditional Ramadan drinks. As Fasting is obligatory for adult Muslims, except those who are suffering from an illness, travelling, are elderly and due to other valid reasons.
While fasting from dawn until sunset, Muslims are not allowed to eat, food, drinking liquids and smoking. Food and drinks are served daily, before dawn and after sunset, referred to as Sehr and Iftar respectively.
As for last many years Ramadan is being observed in the summer season not only in Pakistan but also in many other countries of the world. And the length of fasting time varies mostly from 15-16 hours, as in Pakistan the duration between sehr and iftar is of 15 hours now a days.
So due to such a lengthy duration plus in summer season we sometimes get exhausted and dehydrated, so here I am going to share some drinks recipes of Ramadan which will keep you hydrated and energetic throughout the day and you will feel fresh.
Lemonade is considered best for trigger heartburn and acidity, it contain sufficient amount of calories. It is also best for the kidney patient.
For its preparation you need to have lemon, white/brown sugar, salt, water and ice cubes. For the preparation of 1 jug of lemonade you want to have 6/7 lemon, squeeze them and add their juice in the jug add one cup of sugar 1 table spoon or as per your taste salt, shake it well and add 4/5 glasses of chilled water and some ice cube.
Your refreshing lemonade is ready for iftar drink it and stay hydrated. Because lemon contains vitamin C so this drink is also good for your skin.
Milk shakes for Ramadan
There are a large varieties of milk shakes to drink like milkshakes made from fruits like apple, mango, banana, dates and strawberries, each having different tastes and benefits. Because these drinks are prepared with fruits and milk so these are energy drinks and contain sufficient amount of calories.
For the preparation of milkshakes take half jug of fresh milk and add some fruits according to your taste, add half cup of sugar and some ice cubes shake it well in blender, and serve it in iftar.
These are energy drinks which will give you energy after fasting. You can also use these drinks in sehr which will keep you fresh, hydrated and energetic throughout the day.
Traditional Shakar ka Sharbat
Brown sugar is the non refined form of white sugar which is best for the health, as compared to the white sugar it is having much benefits as the white sugar is also known as the white death so we much avoid the maximum use of white sugar and turn toward the brown sugar.
For the preparation of this drink you want to have 2 cups of brown sugar you can also use jiggery (gurh) instead of brown sugar (shakar), now soak the brown sugar into a jug for 2,3 hours and shake it well now add 4/5 glass of water and some ice cubes in it your refreshing drink is ready for iftar you can also squeeze some lemon, mint leaves or basil seeds in it for taste and making it more refreshing.
Fresh Juices for Ramadan
There are a large number of fruits in summer. You can use fruits of your choice to extract fresh juice from apple, pineapple, kiwi and water melon. These juices are rich in vitamins, calcium, potassium and many other minerals which will keep you healthy, refreshing and dehydrating during Ramadan.
Traditional Satoo Drink (satoo ka sharbat)
Jau (oat) is easily available in Pakistan, it is used to make satoo ka sharbat which is very good for health. For its preparation you need to have one cup of Jau (oat) soak it into water for 2/3 hours now remove straws from water and take the Jau out of water and brown these jau on low flame in a pan. When sweat aroma started to come turn off the stoke and rest it to cool, and after that grind it into grinder. Now your satoo is ready for use.
Pour 4/5 glass of chilled water into jug add one full cup of brown sugar of shaker in it shake it well and add 4/5 spoons of jau ka satoo/ atta in it. Mix it well and add some ice cubes in it your drink is ready now that is very refreshing and energetic drink during Ramadan.
Lassi is also very energetic drink which have a large amount of calories in it. Which will keep you healthy, refreshing and energetic during fasting.
For the preparation of lassi you need to have one cup of yogurt, water, sugar and ice cubes. Add yogurt into blender, half cup sugar, chilled water/ milk can also be used instead of water and some ice cubes, now blend it well. It is now ready to serve. Yogurt is good source of protein which will be very beneficial during Ramadan.
Imli and Aaloo bukhara Drink
Take one cup of tamarind and one cup dried plum, soak them in water overnight. Separate the hard part from both of them. Add 1 cup of sugar 4/5 glass of water and blend well. Add some ice cubes.
Your drink is ready for the serving. It is very refreshing drink.
